Reverse Insurance

Why do we buy insurance? We want to protect ourselves in case something goes wrong. But sometimes, life's Groundhog Day regularity leaves us feeling trapped...especially if we feel powerless to make a meaningful change. This is actually why people gamble--it's the attempt to pave the way for an unexpected good surprise. The gambling industry actually refers to their business as "reverse insurance" because they understand this human need for the uncertainty that something new can happen and the desperation people feel when it seems nothing will change.

REVERSE INSURANCE helps us remember that human lives need a mixture of both certain and uncertain elements to feel satisfied and hopeful. When we see uncertainty this way, we can be more curious about it instead of shying away from the unknown. Without uncertainty, life would become a bland repetitive Truman Show existence.
