Adjacent Possible

Taken from the field of theoretical biology, the adjacent possible is Steven Kauffman's term to describe the infinite possibility hidden in the living world. He describes it as a kind of "shadow future, hovering on the edges of the present state of things, a map of all the ways in which the present can reinvent itself."

What is fascinating about this adjacent nature of things is that these possibilities are hovering nearby. There are intensely wild and diverse options that are available to us all the time but only happen when we see and step into them opening up yet more possibilities, infinitely.

Instead of being paralyzed by all this possibility, the ADJACENT POSSIBLE tool encourages you to think outside the options you are seeing into the shadowy options. This isn't about weird or fantastic magical outcomes but ones you just aren't considering because they are unfamiliar or shadowy for you. Be forewarned, this tool is one that often leads to radical change!
